Cupping Notes
This Burundi is absolutely delicious.
The wait is over and Burundi is here! This summer, we're pleased to bring our customers four different coffees from Burundi.
Umuco is the first of two naturals from Burundi this summer.
Strawberry. Ripe strawberries dipped in chocolate was the most clear note, right out of the gate. When you find a natural processed coffee that boasts a strawberry note, it's hard to pass up.
Milk Chocolate. As I mentioned, sweet milk chocolate is especially present, and it pairs so nicely with fresh strawberry.
Vanilla Cream. The only thing that could make this coffee more luxurious is sweet vanilla cream. The creamy body (filled will lactic acid) really adds some nice body to this coffee and makes it so drinkable.

Farming Notes
Burundi is back at Peregrine, thanks again to our partners at Homage Coffee Source in Dallas. We want to give special thanks specifically to Jake Smith and his direct trade connections in East Africa. This is our third year working with him and his team to provide excellent coffees from the producers in Burundi.
Burundi Umuco is named after the washing station at which it is processed. Umuco Station, located in Kayanza Province, is a hub for small producers. “Umuco” means “light” in the local Kirundi language and is meant to represent bringing “light” and transparency to the coffee trade in Burundi.
Umuco Station is owned by the team of Juste Picasso Nduwayo, Zephyrin Banzubaze, and Jeremi Nakimuhana. The station is managed by Noel Twagirayezu. At Umuco, some 900 farmers bring their crop for processing.
Thanks to Homage Coffee Source, we are able to pay these farmers well above the industry standard for their hard work and dedication to quality.
