Cupping Notes

After far too long of a wait, a single-origin Guatemala has made its return to Peregrine! We know a coffee of this quality will have been worth that wait!

Generally speaking, Guatemalan coffees are known for rich chocolate notes and full-bodied cups. This stellar coffee from Huehuetenango is no exception.

Here's what we're tasting:

Chocolate Chip Cookie. Imagine fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven. Now take a bite. You burnt your mouth. The same thing would happen with this coffee if you don't let it cool down a bit. Mind = blown. But seriously, this coffee boasts delicious, telltale signs of being a washed Guatemalan. Deliciously chocolate notes, paired with brown sugar and everything else you could describe a cookie to have within.

Cinnamon. If you weren't thinking about delicious baked goods yet, now you are. We found lots of complexity in this cup that reminded us most of spices, specifically cinnamon. Whereas some lower-quality coffees from Central America can fall flat, this coffee does anything but that.

Mandarin Orange. There's a very pleasant, but still tame, citric acidity present in Don Martinez's coffee. We found that the sweetness, paired with juicy fruit notes reminded us of mandarin oranges most of all!
