Cupping Notes

Cesar was extremely excited for us to try this new coffee—and now we can tell why.

If you or someone you know is vegan, you could easily recognize the smell of nutritional yeast the moment the beans hit the burrs in the grinder. Or maybe even popcorn! The thought of either aroma may not sound too appealing for your coffee, but it is actually quite pleasant. Notes of strawberry also shine through even as dry grounds. Unique smell…unique coffee!

Taste wise, what initially hits the palate is a “bready” taste (akin to the nutritional yeast) but morphing into a crystal clear cereal taste. The creaminess and the strawberry notes ultimately brought back memories of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries or even homemade strawberry ice cream. Likely, we can thank the anaerobic and natural processing for the strong strawberry flavor in this coffee.

This coffee really is a delicious dream come true. For a Guatemalan coffee—which usually boasts some of the most chocolatey coffees—this coffee doesn’t disappoint with its unique flavors of caramelly cereal and strawberry ice cream.

We really hope you enjoy this coffee as much as we do.
