Cupping Notes

We love coffees like this... deep, jammy, and complex. They are oftentimes emblematic of East African coffees as a whole and we love when we get to roast them for you.

Here's what we're tasting:

Blackberry Jam. Almost immediately, you're hit with the fruitiness in this coffee, but not the bright or tart notes of many fruity coffees. What this Rwandan coffee brings to the table (er, cup) is intensely sweet and jammy. Along with that comes an almost implied pleasant and "oily" mouthfeel.

Root Beer. There's a lot of complexity in this cup, similar to a glass of refreshing root beer. Spices, roots, and botanicals. Nobody (well, likely few people) can actually name the roots (etc.) that make up root beer... but we all know when we taste something similar. This is similar. Sassafras, sarsparilla, licorice, vanilla, etc.

Peanut Brittle. The pleasant saltiness that is present in this cup lends itself somewhat to a sensation that reminds us of nutty peanut brittle. Paired with the berry sweetness of blackberry jam, we're almost reminded of a pb&j. How delightful!

Three notes aren't really enough for this coffee, and you'll soon understand why!
