Cupping Notes
Black Hermit is an everyday drinker for those who like their coffee black, or with cream. Our goal for Black Hermit was to create a "transition coffee" for those who have never had specialty coffee and prefer the darker roast tones in coffee without sacrificing complex flavor. The greatest compliment we've received is from our local Bear who said, "Folgers just won't do anymore." We agree and know that you will also.

Farming Notes
This blend comes from two of our direct trade farms- Organic Guatemala Maya Ixil, and El Salvador Las Delicias. Cesar Gaitan, our longtime friend, has worked with the local mill in Maya Ixil over the last four years helping them to become certified organic and streamline their farming processes to create an amazing low-acidity coffee, with impeccable flavor transparency and body. Cesar’s brother-in-law is Miguel Menendez, the owner of Las Delicias, a multi-generational farm of exceptional coffees. The Red Bourbon, which we have used in blends for 3 years now, is what gives Black Hermit the unique brightness in the cup and keeps it from bogging down too much on the dark side. Overall, Black Hermit is a winning blend for those who like their coffee darker, but still want brightness in the cup.
