This coffee comes through a longstanding relationship with Salem and Susana Bellah of Cormorant Coffee in Dallas, Texas. With Susana’s family roots in Colombia, the partnership carries a personal depth that extends well beyond sourcing. Her direct connection to the farmers behind this lot allows for transparency, trust, and confidence in every step of the process.

The producer, Olman Rivera, is a fourth-generation coffee farmer known for his commitment to clean, sustainable practices. Working alongside his brothers, sons, grandsons, and granddaughters, Olman continues a family tradition grounded in integrity and steady excellence. Their farm, Finca El Silencio, sits at 1,700-1,800 meters just outside Piendamó in Cauca, a region celebrated for its high-elevation microclimates and consistently expressive washed coffees.

Finca El Silencio is partially shade-grown, pesticide-free, and managed using regenerative practices, including thoughtful water recycling. The focus here is not experimental processing or competition-driven profiles, but disciplined cultivation and careful technique — an approach that yields beautifully clean, honest coffees year after year.

The specific lot selected, LV OL (Summer 2025), reflects Olman’s straightforward and meticulous approach. Cherries are selectively handpicked, washed with precision, and patio-dried under constant supervision. Quality control is overseen by Olman’s son, Robinson Rivera, a certified Q Grader, ensuring each lot meets the family’s exacting standards before export.

What defines this coffee is not flash, but craft; a clear, sweet, medium-bodied washed Colombian rooted in four generations of dedication. We are grateful to Salem, Susana, and the Rivera family for their trust and partnership, and honored to share the fruit of their work.
