Finca Milán sits high on the forested slopes of the Quezaltepec–El Bálsamo region in El Salvador, where volcanic soils and cool mountain air shape coffees marked by clarity and character. The farm carries a storied past, once owned by a former Salvadoran president, before being thoughtfully revived under the stewardship of Carlos Escobar. Today, Carlos oversees both Finca Milán and its sister farm, Las Marías, with a focus on sustainability, meticulous processing, and long-term community care.

In addition to cultivating classic varieties such as Catuai, Finca Milán has become known for producing expressive lots of Villa Sarchi, a variety originally developed in Costa Rica and prized for its sweetness and balance. The farm’s commitment extends well beyond the coffee itself. Workers are provided with housing, access to a school and health clinic, and daycare services during harvest; investments that reflect a holistic approach to farming and stewardship.

That same care is evident in the coffee’s production. Cherries are selectively harvested and processed as a natural, allowing fruit character to develop fully while maintaining balance and clarity. The result is a coffee that expresses both place and intention, shaped by careful farming and consistent attention at every stage.

We are honored to share coffees produced by Don Carlos and his team, and grateful to Britt and the team at Forest Flame in Dallas for continuing to connect us with producers whose values and craftsmanship align so closely with our own.
