Finca Vista Hermosa is a renowned coffee farm located in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala, an area celebrated for its high elevations, cool mountain climate, and expressive washed coffees. The Martinez family has stewarded this land for three generations, building a legacy defined by patience, craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication to quality.
The family’s coffee history reaches back well before modern infrastructure arrived in the region. When Don Felipe Martinez began cultivating coffee at Finca Vista Hermosa in the 1950s, electricity and paved roads were still years away. During harvest, he would sleep on the drying patios to guard his crop and personally transport coffee by pack mule through the mountains — a reflection of both necessity and devotion.
Now at 105 years old, Don Felipe’s influence continues to shape the farm’s values. His commitment to excellence and sustainability laid the foundation for what Finca Vista Hermosa is today: a producer whose coffees are sought after for their consistency, clarity, and integrity. That legacy is now carried forward by Edwin Martinez, a third-generation grower who continues to honor the traditions of his family while guiding the farm into the future.
The coffee produced here follows a classic washed process, emphasizing balance, sweetness, and structure. Rather than leaning into experimental techniques, Finca Vista Hermosa focuses on disciplined cultivation and precise processing — an approach that has yielded dependable excellence year after year.
We are grateful to Madison Leonard at ONYX Coffee for helping connect us with Edwin and the Martinez family. Partnerships like these make it possible to share coffees that carry both history and heart.
